Radiologist Recruiting Update — New Channels for Radiologist Jobs
Reading the blogs, scrolling social media, and talking to dozens of radiologists each week, the only topic hotter than radiologist compensation is recruitment! Going into October and late fall of 2024, much has changed with the approach to finding and landing clinical radiology jobs for both newly trained and experienced radiologists.
The long term “gold standard” of the “market” has been the ACR Career Center, the Society of Interventional Radiology job board and the Society of Breast Imaging job board. While these websites continue to command the most attention and job listings, they are no longer the only places to find the right job or to attract ideal candidates.
What Changed?
RBS has been recruiting for our private practice clients since 2004 and tracking radiology jobs since 2016. In this time, we recruited and placed 100’s of radiologists primarily from carefully curated ads in the ACR Career Center. The change is (a) going from around 500-600 jobs to 1000+ and then consistently over 1,800 at any given time and (b) the overwhelming number of jobs that are corporate.
The private equity and corporate jobs are numerous and have effectively minimized awareness of quality private practice opportunities, both onsite and teleradiology. As a result, we’ve seen the gradual adaptation of “new channels”.
We now see private practice radiologist jobs marketed within thoughtful non-traditional locations. These creative avenues are designed to attract better fits and showcase traditional quality groups to both fellows and experienced radiologists.
Beyond the ACR, we see jobs on www.radworking.com, www.benwhite.com, Facebook pages and through cultivated email lists. RBS has its own separate radiologist jobs webpage to showcase positions within our network of management clients. We have traffic every day even though our list is tailored and smaller than others.
RBS supports these newer sites and methods. We also deploy other tools to describe jobs and assist with better matches, including social media posts on Instagram (@radiologybusinessolutions) and, of course, the ACR Career Center.
As we work to close 2024 and fill open positions, we are reflecting on the last 24 months where we placed 45+ radiologists into our clients’ practices over 12 specific sites. Most of those candidates learned about the job opportunities through the traditional ACR job board, our email campaigns, and word of mouth.
However, the trend toward the end of 2024 and into 2025 is inquiries and interest through the websites catering to private practices as mentioned above. This is a trend we are watching closely and seeing more and more “site hits”, “likes” and “follows” on our listings as well.
